President Trump’s Disney Hall of Presidents installation delayed, big time

TwitterFacebook

You'll have to wait a little longer for your robot Donald Trump.

New reports coming out of the most magical place on earth claim that Disney World's Hall of Presidents won't be showing off its 45th robot President any time soon.

The venerable hall, which has been closed for renovations since shortly before Trump took office in January, was originally scheduled to reopen on June 30th.

Originally opened in 1971 as part of Disney World's Liberty Square, The Hall of Presidents features animatronic robots built by Disney Imagineers for each of the previous 44 presidents. Its last major renovation came in 2009 when it unveiled its President Barack Obama animatronic. The creation was heavily promoted by Disney World and the White House. Read more...

Someone actually created a live feed of Trump’s tweets as artwork for his living room

TwitterFacebook

Think you've had enough of @realDonaldTrump? Try stepping into your living room and having a live feed of the president's hotly debated tweets on your wall. No need to turn on the news, no need to open your Twitter app — or any other form of social media. All you have to do is look at your wall.

Sound appealing? Well, maybe not. But for one man from Sweden, it's a long-term project that's finally come to fruition.

Tech enthusiast Peder Dinkelspiel has created a screen that can display a live feed of Trump's tweets right on his living room wall with the help of Visionect, a digital sign company, and E Ink technology.  Read more...

Experts worry this digital divide is slowing small-town economic development at a time when farm and factory jobs are vanishing and young people and retailers are fleeing for cities.

Donald Trump, who capitalized on this despair in his run for the White House, finally offered a concrete answer to this problem, however vague, in an Iowa speech this week.  Read more…

Where Travis Kalanick and Donald Trump meet in the middle: Their supporters

TwitterFacebook

They might not be perfect, but they're winners.

In 2017, it's a common refrain. For example: It's how Donald Trump supporters justify supporting Donald Trump. And it's also how Travis Kalanick supporters still justify supporting Travis Kalanick.

Let's be clear: Kalanick is, in form and function, nothing like Trump. Kalanick is a legitimately successful entrepreneur who created a massive company out of thin air. Kalanick's also got plenty of faults, but he hasn't been accused of a fraction of the improprieties that Trump has (personally, and professionally).

They share, however, in a cult of personality among their supporters—as do other tech figures (see: Elon Musk). Their supporters look at these figures and their faults, and see greatness—not just alongside these faults, but because of these faults. Read more...
