John Oliver tries to sell his very own $1 million wet wipes the Alex Jones way

TwitterFacebook

Radio host Alex Jones complained that Last Week Tonight only makes fun of him out of context, so John Oliver took that as an opportunity to make fun of him in full context.

On the show Sunday night, Oliver took a deeper look at just how outrageous the claims Alex Jones makes on his show are. Later in the show, Jack McBrayer made an appearance as Alex Jones' trusted "doctor" to sell a special NSFW product, rivaled only by Jones' own line of wellness products.

Oliver urged everyone to buy his and only his product because, in the words of Jones, any other product could kill you.  Read more...

John Oliver explains why your local TV news might be filled with right-wing stories

TwitterFacebook

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver wants you to think about your local TV news.

On Sunday, he ran a segment about Sinclair Broadcast Group, which could soon complete a merger with Tribune Media that would let it reach 2.2 million households.

The problem? Sinclair sometimes forces its stations to run right-wing stories, commentary, and commercials during local TV news broadcasts.

Sadly, Sinclair stations won't run Last Week Tonight's disclaimer starring Steve Schirripa from The Sopranos.

John Oliver goes on epic rant about Trump’s promise to help coal miners

TwitterFacebook

Although there are many good ranters out there on the internet, no-one does ranting quite like John Oliver.

This week his sights are firmly set on Donald Trump — and, more specifically, his promise to help coal miners.

"If Trump really cares about miners he would be putting a plan in place for their futures as mining continues its long-term decline," says Oliver during a segment for Last Week Tonight

"But he isn't doing that." Read more...

John Oliver calls on the internet to save itself by flooding the FCC with comments

TwitterFacebook

As the new FCC Chairman Ajit Pai plans to take a "weed whacker" to net neutrality regulations, John Oliver asked internet commenters everywhere for their help on Sunday.

To give users an easy way to voice their displeasure of Pai's plan to repeal the classification of the internet as a common carrier, he's taken out the domain name gofccyourself.com, which is a direct link to the site to send comments. So many comments flooded in that, by Sunday, it appeared that the site was already overloaded.

Back in 2014 when the FCC was considering new net neutrality rules, Oliver called for the same kind of action from his viewers on Last Week Tonight. The FCC's website crashed, Oliver's segment brought unprecedented attention to the issue, and the commission decided to reclassify internet service as a common carrier.  Read more...

John Oliver rips into Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner in epic 20-minute rant

TwitterFacebook

Ever wondered exactly what kind of influence Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have in the White House?

Well John Oliver is here to tell you.

In an epic 25-minute rant on Last Week Tonight, Oliver breaks down exactly what the couple many think of as a "moderating influence" on Trump actually do — and what, if anything, makes them qualified to do it.

"I know that all of this may seem like an evisceration of both Jared and Ivanka, but it is really not," Oliver concludes at the end of his rant.

"I don't know enough about them to eviscerate them. Just as you don't know enough about them to justify putting any real hopes in them." Read more...
