Self-driving cars are safer when they talk to each other

Most current self-driving technology relies on cameras, radar and lidar. These sensory devices serve as eyes for the car, mimicking what a human driver can see. But a University of Michigan public-private partnership called Mcity is testing V2V, or vehicle to vehicle communication, and has found that it makes their autonomous prototypes even safer.

V2V works by wirelessly sharing data such as location, speed and direction. Using DSRC, or Dedicated Short Range Communication, V2V can send up to 10 messages per second. This communication allows cars to see beyond what is immediately in front of them -- sensing a red light around a blind curve, or automatically braking for a car that runs a stop sign.

Mcity is also using a new augmented reality system to test their cars equipped with V2V. They've created virtual vehicles equipped with the technology that can communicate with their actual prototypes. This allows them to test scenarios that are cost-prohibitive or too dangerous for real-world trials.

The catch of V2V? It has to be installed in the majority of cars and infrastructure (such as traffic lights) to function adequately. Regardless, anything that gets us closer to safe, reliable autonomous cars is a win, so it will be interesting to see how this tech develops.

Heidi Klum’s Boyfriend Vito Insists He Didn’t Cheat After Kissing Another Gal

Heidi Klum In Denial Boyfriend Vito Schnabel Claims He Didn't Cheat

After shocking photos showed Heidi Klum‘s boyfriend Vito Schnabel kissing another woman, all hell broke loose with online stories about the art dealer cheating on the supermodel.

Responding to the news, Schnabel denied he’s a cheat and said it was merely an “innocent situation” with a family friend.

But what about the other women Schnabel has been canoodling with in his years of being Klum’s steady?

In a statement to PEOPLE, Schnabel said about pictures of him kissing a brunette mystery woman in London, “The claims that have been made are a misinterpretation of an entirely innocent situation. There is nothing more to this than I was simply saying goodnight to a family friend and we went on our separate ways.”

However, is there really nothing to see here?

Mom of three Klum divorced rocker Seal in 2014 and started dating Schnabel the same year her divorce became final. She has stuck with Schnabel despite him being spotted with other gals.

As Radar has reported, cheating rumors flew about Schnabel after he was spotted on an apparent date with young actress Dakota Johnson.

During the 2015 night out, a source told Star, “They held hands on and off.”

And also, New Yorker Schnabel was reportedly caught two-timing Klum with Russian Dasha Zhukova, 35, also an art dealer. According to eyewitnesses, he was “caressing, hugging and whispering into Dasha’s ear” at the St. Moritz restaurant.

Still, Klum has told E! about Schnabel, “I’m very much in love.”

The latest controversy erupted, as Radar reported, when he was photographed kissing the dark haired beauty Friday morning in London.

It raised major eyebrows as Klum, 44, was reportedly filming new episodes of America’s Next Top Model in New York as Schnabel, 30, was in England with the other gal.

On Friday night, Klum was spotted in the rain in New York wearing a sleek leather dress and carrying an umbrella. She was smiling even as word was spreading about Schnabel kissing the other woman.

The supermodel was hard at work at Top Model while Schnabel was caught leaving the restaurant Chiltern Firehouse in London with the unknown female, around 3:30 am., as the Daily Mail reported.

And now, with Schnabel’s hurried statement to deny cheating, observers wonder if Klum is in major denial about her relationship!

Charles Begged Camilla Not To Marry Husband Andrew Parker Bowles

Prince Charles Begged Camilla Not To Marry Her Husband

A new book has ripped the lid off Prince Charles long and tormented relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles, revealing that she chose an “alpha male,” her longtime love Andrew Parker Bowles, over the smitten heir to the throne.

Although Charles begged Camilla not to marry Bowles years before Diana was even in the picture, as the Daily Mail reported, she did walk down the aisle with the handsome British army officer.

And in the wake of the heartbreak, jilted Charles cried before his famed 1981 wedding to Princess Diana, the book’s sources said.

PHOTOS: Shocking Scandals Of The Royal Family

According to the Daily Mail, the explosive new tome, written by Britain’s top royal author Penny Junor, features a wealth of new information provided by Camilla’s family and friends.

Camilla, now 69, dated Bowles for seven years and desperately wanted to be his wife, even though he cheated on her with multiple women, the author claimed.

As the book says in an example, “One night, at a dinner party, the woman sitting next to Andrew Parker Bowles turned to him and smiled, ‘I’m really hurt, Andrew,’ she said teasingly. ‘I’m the only one of Camilla’s friends you haven’t made a pass at. What’s wrong with me?’ ”

Camilla was introduced to Charles by a friend who thought she should be treated better — and instant sparks flew.

But while Charles was crazy about Camilla, she knew her romance with the Prince wouldn’t go anywhere because the royal family insisted on him marrying a virgin—a test she couldn’t pass. So Camilla kept seeing Bowles and he finally proposed to her. Camilla happily accepted.

The Prince, then in his 20s, was devastated and begged his mistress not to tie the knot with Bowles, Junor has written. But even though Bowles’ cheating ways were well known, Camilla loved his alpha male style, according to Junor’s book sources, and they wed in 1973.

A bereft Charles, now 68, married Diana eight years later but wasn’t happy about it, according to royal author Junor’s interviews.

Her book says a lady-in-waiting to the Queen, who had known Charles wasn’t emotionally sure about marrying Diana, “had stood with him at a Buckingham Palace window watching the crowds in the Mall with tears streaming down their faces,” before his wedding to Lady Di.

Prince Charles never was able to move on from Camilla and publicly admitted he’d gone back to her while still married to beautiful Diana.

Camilla recently whined in an interview she was a prisoner in her home when having her affair with the Prince.

Charles and Di were officially divorced in 1996. People around the world were devastated when Diana died in a car accident the following year in Paris.

This year, numerous 20-year anniversary specials about the “People’s Princess” have been airing to mark her tragic death.

In 2005, the Prince finally married Camilla, who had been bitterly hurt by husband Bowles’ infidelity, says the new book. (The Bowleses had divorced in 1995)

The story of the royal love triangle — with major input from Camilla’s side — is now being serialized in the Daily Mail.
